Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable reports over time, including fiscal reform, the budget and the Iran Contra saga. She travelled frequently along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
